Statistics from the dating site OK Cupid have revealed that most people prefer to date someone who is the same race as them. Mona Chalabi believes that while there are a variety of reasons people express certain preferences when looking for a partner, this trend is in part due to our exposure to negative racial stereotypes. Even the noble ranks of the Guardianista seem to find ways to justify why people of a different ethnic background aren't worth a second look in the romance department, a sort of liberal nimbyism and then some, sort of Not-In-My-Bedroom racists. Poor bastards, no wonder nearly half of marriages end in divorce if part of the reason for marrying the other person is their race.
